GIS GROWTH RANKED AT THE TOP BY LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Grand Isle Shipyard celebrated two entrepreneurial milestones in October, with one being named 25th within the 100 fastest-growing businesses around the world owned or led by LSU graduates. In addition to earning a solid spot on the LSU100 list, GIS was one of only 11 companies also making the LSU ROARING20 list, which recognizes the 20 highest revenue-generating LSU graduate owned or led businesses from the LSU100 list.

Making the cut

Since it began in 2011, the LSU100 and LSU ROARING20 showcases the success of LSU graduates which positively impact local, regional, and national business. In order to qualify for consideration, companies must:

  • Be in business for 5 or more years.
  • Record revenue of $100,000 or more the past three years.
  • Be LSU Tiger-led or Tiger-owned for the past three years.
  • Act with high integrity and operate in a manner consistent with LSU values.

As Mark Pregeant II (GIS CEO & President) stated, we are proud of the many successes that our LSU graduate team members have helped us achieve and are eager to continue the overall company growth into the many years to come:

“It’s wonderful to be supported and recognized by our Louisiana colleges and universities, and this ranking from LSU is a fine example of the hard work our employees demonstrated in 2022 to help us continue to grow and thrive. I’m proud of our LSU alumni leadership who bring this level of attention to our overall company success.”

Todd Berthelot | Chief of Development Officer
Bachelor of Science in Business – 2005

“In Louisiana we are blessed to have some of the best food, culture and people in the world. There is no place better than Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. I’m so proud to have had the opportunity to attend LSU. It is truly a dream come true to get the opportunity to grow our business with such a great team at a great company in the place I’m proud to call home.”

Dustin Malbrough | Chief of Technical Services
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (B.S.C.E.) – 2007

“My collegiate experience at LSU laid the foundation that grounds me in my work today, as a leader in this great company at GIS. It afforded me my first taste of the grind it takes to be successful in whatever one may embark on in life; from the discipline needed to navigate the curriculum of Engineering, mixed with the fun and excitement of college life at LSU and Saturday nights in Death Valley, to the many learnings and relationships forged along the way were all part of my journey and experience as a Tiger, and it is something that I will always cherish and be grateful for…..Forever LSU.”

Mary Blanchard | Coastal & Infrastructure Project Associate
Bachelor of Science in Education – 2012

Master of Arts in Teaching – 2013

“From sprinting through the broadly oaks to make an early morning class in Lockett Hall, to belting out ‘closing time’ at Bogies on a Thursday night, and my favorite of all, chanting Forever, L-S-U with 100,000 of my closest friends on a Saturday evening in Death Valley… my years at LSU were epically unforgettable.”

Bruce Thomas | Industrial Engineering – Sr. Executive Operations
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering – 1977

“LSU prepared me well for my career; great curriculum and professors!  A lot has changed in 45 years, I was in the last graduating class to use the old ME building before CEBA was built. Geaux Tigers!”

Jacob Loeske | Coastal & Infrastructure Business Development
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering – 2002

“During my time at LSU, I’ve met hundreds of new friends from around the state and country with similar hobbies and goals. As I go through the chapters of life, those same friends are now raising families and taking on managerial roles within their respective companies in and around southeast Louisiana.  When we run into one another after 20 years in a business setting, I always have that feeling of uncertainty of which story will surface as the meeting progresses!  It is those priceless moments that will go on FOREVER…FOREVER LSU!!”

Kevin Leblanc | Director of Proposals & Contracts
Bachelor of Science in Economics – 1996

“The professors at LSU EJ Ourso College of Business pushed us to think beyond the textbooks. I still reflect on some of those lessons today.”

Nicole LaChance | Senior Proposals Specialist
Master of Business Administration (MBA) – 2006

“While completing the LSU Executive MBA program, I made valuable, lifelong connections and nurtured an entrepreneurial attitude.”

Brady Bergeron | Business Manager
Bachelors in Construction Management – 2018

Masters in Business Administration – 2020

“I will always be thankful for my time at LSU. The Construction Management program is one of the best the university has to offer. The industry and alumni play a huge part in the success of this program. I enjoyed my undergrad so much that I pursued my MBA through LSU the semester after graduation.”
