Our Story
Putting people first since 1948
Founders
Ouida and Clyde Pregeant Sr.
1948
Founded In 1948 the company began servicing the commercial fishing industry.
1950s
Early Fifties-Oil & Gas Industry moves to the Grand Isle Area. Founders take advantage of the opportunity to expand their business and as a dual service provider.
1960s
Sons, Robert (machinist) and Clyde Jr. (welder), join the company. Secured first offshore contract with Humble Oil, later purchased by Exxon.
1970s
"Choctaw" was the only boat ever built by GIS in the late 1970s. Clyde Sr. retires, leaving the business to his three sons -- Robert, Clyde Jr. and Richard.
1980s
Early Eighties, the company transformed from a dual service provider to an oilfield service company with a new generation of management. Become known in the industry as "GIS Oilfield Contractors".
1990s
Rapid growth of expansion from 3rd generation ownership both in geographical locations and service lines -- Offshore, Fabrication, and Project Management. GIS expanded footprint internationally into Venezuela.
2000s
Continued growth with facility additions and new services: Civil Aggregates and Environmental. Expanded international footprint into countries including Brazil and Nigeria. Recognized reputation of leading “oilfield contractor” with excellent safety record and program.
2010s
Began Coastal & Industrial Engineering company and an Industrial Construction Company. Expanded services capabilities into Drone, MODS software and Rope Access, as well as JV with Worley Parson (GWIS).
2020s
Expansion into new markets and rapid personnel growth event through pandemic and oil price challenges. Increased portfolio of services through acquisition of fabric maintenance, electrical and surveying companies along with disaster relief and utility vegetation management capabilities.
