Power Generation

hurricane ida recovery

Project Overview
  • More than 850,000 homes and businesses in Louisiana and Mississippi were without power on Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us, after Hurricane Ida made landfall near Port Fourchon, La., on Sunday, August 29, 2021 as a Category 4 storm. Following the aftermath of Hurricane Ida’s destruction, GIS was contracted by Entergy’s Power Through team to provide an EPC temporary power generation solution for their South Louisiana customers affected by storm. These services included providing temporary power generation equipment, installation and maintenance until grid power is restored in the affected areas. GIS’ fleet for the program encompasses 60+ generators available for deployment, and a team of 50 individuals that have commissioned 40+ locations to date. Despite the fact that GIS’ corporate office is located within Lafourche Parish, the team was able to utilize other locations strategically located within the Southeast Louisiana region to provide labor and equipment to
    respond to the client’s needs.
