boarding valve skid

Project Overview
  • In its first major EPF (engineer, procure, fabricate) project, GIS Industrial Engineering partnered with multiple GIS service groups (Project Management, Fabrication, I/E Construction, MODS, Nuwave) to design and construct a high pressure (10,000 psi) Boarding Valve Skid Package for a new development in the Gulf of Mexico. Engineering work included mechanical design including stress and advanced analysis, civil/structural design of the structure, I/E design/layout, and project support during fabrication/testing. Fabrication work included significant structural steel for the three-level skid and all piping; I/E installation of many instruments and panels in very congested areas; and coating of the entire package. Final completions included MODS services for bolting, leak-testing, flushing of complex tubing systems, and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
notable achievements
  • With the vast majority of field work completed at the Abbeville facility, there were no recordable HSE events for the duration of the project. Although there were MANY opportunities throughout 2020-2021 to delay the project (Covid, 3 named hurricanes, ice storms), the continuous teamwork with all groups involved resulted in on-time load-out of the skid on May 29, 2021.
