Project Overview
  • Sun Industries, a division of GIS, has been providing electrical and instrumentation maintenance services for the entire Southern University campus for many years. Our team recently received multiple project awards to provide services for larger projects for the university.

  • Our crew completed all of the electrical needs for a new construction of an “Information Systems” building to be utilized by students and the university which began in November 2021. A longer term project focuses on the relocation of the high voltage from overhead to underground lines for the entire Baton Rouge, Shreveport and New Orleans campuses. The scope includes labor, materials and equipment to relocate up to 5,500′ of existing overhead voltage line underground, install two (2) new S & C high voltage switches, directionally bore up to 5500 of 4″ PVC conduit, install up to 16,500′ ft of 2/0 15KV high voltage cable, up to 500’ of 1/0 THHN ground cable, one 250KVA pad mount transformer, all necessary load break elbows  and  make  necessary  connections/terminations. Another  project  included removing/replacing interior and exterior fixtures with new LED fixtures and upgrading/installing new LED roadway lighting to the M.A. Edmond Arena within the Agricultural Center.
